NGPs are microbial groups that meet the traditional definition of probiotics. Several microbial communities have been evaluated as NGPs. Of these, Akkermansia muciniphila, Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, Eubacterium hallii, Prevotella copri, Bacteroides spp. are the most promising.
